Preparing for a 600km ride

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The 600km ride we are preparing goes from Helsinki to Yyteri and back. It’s called Helsinki-Satakunta-Helsinki. Or #HSH600 on Twitter. The elevation is not bad, actually it’s fairly flat over 60% of the ride. Just really hoping for good weather and not too much wind.

The bicycle

I am definitely going to ride with my Cervélo C3.

What else should I fix on the bike? Obviously putting the pedals…

The Hunt wheels are great. The dynamo hub works great. I’ve had no problem with the tubeless tyres. The chain is brand new. The cassette is a new 105 11-28. Probably alright for the elevation ahead of us.

The Apidura racing frame bag is great. The water bottles are fine. Although my dog ate one of them… they’re probably tasty…

The Brooks Cambium C19 saddle is perfect. So perfect that I ordered a second one for my Bianchi Rynkeby bike. The Carradice is nice. A bit too much sway for my own taste but I will fix that somehow. #zipties

The light system is alright. I needed to find a solution for the rear light. I just had a simple battery operated rear light. I needed to plug the dynamo one. But I will stick to battery lights for now.

The cockpit

That’s a difficult one. The aerobars Profile Design Airstryke II are great, but they make it really difficult to attach anything to the stem or to the handlebars. I got myself a UCM aerobridge to be able to attach the light and the GPS, but it didn’t fit properly. So I ordered that stuff from Amazon and it worked pretty well.

This should let me install the Wahoo on top and my K-Lite under it with a Gopro extension.
