Configure HTC Magic for Data and MMS on ELISA finland network

Reading Time: < 1 minute I just upgraded my HTC Magic with Android 1.5 from the official release on the HTC website and I was surprised to see that all my settings, sms, contacts and pictures have been erased… So I had to reconfigure everything. Luckily one of my colleague is more persistant than me and got it all sorted.

I just upgraded my HTC Magic with Android 1.5 from the official release on the HTC website and I was surprised to see that all my settings, sms, contacts and pictures have been erased… So I had to reconfigure everything. Luckily one of my colleague is more persistant than me and got it all sorted.

Here is the way to do it

DATA:
Go on the home screen, press on menu key and settings. Then click on press on Wireless Controls, scroll down to Mobile networks settings.  Press on Access Point Names. There should be nothing there except if your operator supports this phone and can send you the configuration text. It’s not my case with Elisa in Finland. they don’t support this phone but you can configure it manually.
Press on the menu key and New APN.
Put the following configuration:
– Name: Elisa internet
– APN: internet
– Proxy: nothing
– Port: nothing
– Username: nothing
– Password: nothing
– Server: nothing
– MMSC: nothing
– MMS proxy: nothing
– MMS port: nothing
– MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
– MCC: 244
– MNC: 05
– APN type: default

then press on the menu key and press on Save.

MMS:
press on menu again, add APN and put the following configuration:
– Name: Elisa MMS
– APN: mms
– Proxy: nothing
– Port: nothing
– Username: nothing
– Password: nothing
– Server: nothing
– MMSC: http://mms.elisa.fi
– MMS proxy: 213.161.41.57
– MMS port: nothing
– MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
– MCC: 244
– MNC: 05
– APN type: mms

Press on the menu key and save. Now there should be a green spot next to the internet APN.
Everything should be working fine.
